"Natural," "soft glam" and "full glam" get used loosely, and that's how people end up with a look they didn't expect. Here's what each one actually means so you and your artist are on the same page.
Natural ('your skin but better')
Lightweight, fresh and barely-there: evened-out skin, soft definition, neutral tones, minimal or no lashes. Best for baby showers, daytime events, corporate headshots and anyone who doesn't usually wear much makeup. Photographs as a polished version of you.
Soft glam
The most popular middle ground: a defined eye (often a soft smoky or shimmer), a clean base with a bit more coverage, subtle contour, and natural-looking lashes. Reads beautifully in person and on camera without looking heavy. The go-to for most weddings, engagements and events.
Full glam
High-impact: full-coverage base, sculpted contour and highlight, a bold or smoky eye, statement lashes and a defined lip. Built to stand out under lights and in photos. Great for formals, parties, race day and anyone who loves a dramatic finish.
How to choose
- Match the occasion: daytime and natural settings suit natural/soft glam; evening and high-glamour events carry full glam well.
- Think about photos: cameras and lights wash out a little colour, so most people go one step bolder than their everyday look.
- Be yourself: if you never wear a bold lip, your wedding day isn't the time to start. Comfort reads as confidence.
- Bring photos: reference images beat words every time — show your artist 2–3 looks you love.
