How the planner works
Add each person by who they are on the day and whether they need makeup, hair or both, then the time everyone has to be ready by and the earliest you can start. The planner adds up each person’s time, works backwards from your ready-by time and shares the people between artists so the busiest one starts as late as possible. The bride is done last.
Everyone is planned to be finished 15 minutes before your ready-by time, a little room for a late start, a touch-up or a photo before you go. It assumes each artist works on one person at a time and does that person’s whole look.
How long each service takes

From plan to booking
- Check availability for your suburb: see which artists offer everything on your list, with one total for the whole group, travel included.
- Send a request with everyone in it. The artist replies with the time they’ll start and finish.
- Once you’ve accepted it, you pay the deposit to lock in the date.
- The rest is paid to your artist on the day.
For six or more people, or a plan that needs more than one artist, the planner also shows a group enquiry: tell us about the day and we can ask several artists at once.
Planning a wedding or a formal?
Getting ready planner: FAQs
- How long does bridal hair and makeup take?
- Glamr's suggested times are about 2 h 45 min for a bride's makeup and hair and 1 h 30 min for each bridesmaid's. Every artist sets their own, and the artist you send your request to replies with the time they'll start and finish.
- How many hair and makeup artists do I need for a bridal party?
- It depends on how many people, what each needs and how early you can start. For example, a bride and four bridesmaids all having makeup and hair is about 8 h 45 min of work by Glamr's suggested times. To have everyone ready by 1:00 pm, one artist would start by about 4:00 am, 2 artists would start by about 8:15 am, 3 artists would start by about 9:45 am. The planner works it out for your group.
- What time should hair and makeup start?
- Work back from the time everyone has to be ready. Add up each person's time, finish 15 minutes early for a touch-up or a photo, and share the people between your artists. The planner does that arithmetic and does the bride last.
- Can one artist do a whole group?
- One request goes to one artist, with everyone in it, and the search shows the artists who offer everything your group needs. The artist replies with the time they'll start and finish. If your group needs more than one artist, send a request to each with their share of the group, or ask us and we can ask several artists at once.
- Does the planner work for a formal or an event?
- Yes. Add your group as non-bridal: Glamr's suggested time for makeup and hair is about 1 h 45 min a person. Every artist sets their own times when they reply.
